A few weeks ago I was in Hawaii. For months before the trip whenever it would come up people would more often than follow up hearing about these plans with “Have you been before?”

People want to relate to your trip, share their expertise, talk about which island you may or may not be visiting as someone who knows. I do that too, I get it. It makes me wonder, what if goal weight is like Hawaii?

They are both far off, but reachable destinations. You have to make a solid plan in order to get to them. It will cost you something to make the trips – the discomfort that you may have to endure in order to get there will be different depending on how far you have to go and what supports you have in place prior to planning and making your journey…

They are both desired destinations. They both evoke a sense of awe. People long for both, even pine for them. There are also those that know it’s easy to get there and go again and again, and there are those who do not go there, who don’t believe it is possible for them – and every belief in-between.

So yeah, I think goal weight is a lot like Hawaii. You can get there. The way you may need to plan your trip and the time it may take you to get there will be different from how many other people may do it – but you can get there if you choose to.

I think what’s different for me is that I know you can get there – in my bones. Do you know that? Can you feel it?

If you don’t, what would having that certainty be like? Do you wonder if it’s worth making the effort? Do you want to have that knowing look when you see someone else on their way goal weight – like “Yeah, it IS good here.”?

You may not, you don’t have to. You never have to reach goal weight just like you never need to go to Hawaii. Life will be fine, the world will keep rolling on, no big deal. What I’m saying is that if you really want it you can have it – it’s not luck, it’s planning, creating a path, following through in service of your goal and making it happen. That’s it.

If you want it, let me know, I make it my job to craft individualized and responsive itineraries to goal weight and right now I’ve got 2 tickets, is one of them yours? If you think it might be hit reply and let me know. We can talk about what that might look like for you – no purchase necessary!

Big Sunday hugs to you!

  1. I read your article “Hawaii is a lot like Goal Weight” with great interest and found it to be a very inspiring and thought-provoking piece. I completely agree with your analogy that achieving your goal weight is similar to the experience of visiting Hawaii.

You touched on the idea that the journey towards reaching your goal weight can be challenging and require a lot of effort and commitment, much like planning and saving for a trip to Hawaii. I think this is an important point to highlight because it’s easy to get discouraged or give up when faced with setbacks or obstacles along the way. However, as you pointed out, the rewards and benefits of reaching your goal weight are like the breathtaking beauty and unforgettable experiences of visiting Hawaii.

I also appreciated how you emphasized the importance of enjoying the journey and not just focusing on the end result. It’s easy to become fixated on the number on the scale or the size of your clothes, but it’s important to remember that the real joy and satisfaction come from the process of getting there.

Overall, I found your article to be both insightful and inspiring. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences, and for reminding us that the journey towards our goals can be just as rewarding as the destination itself.
