I just read the line “paid more attention” and for the first time ever I thought about it in financial terms. I even questioned if the word “paid” should have been spelled differently! (“Pade?” I don’t think so…) I think I wanted it to be different so that it would mean something different.
My attention is a currency. Where I put my attention is where I am spending my time. Is that hitting anyone else’s “Holy smokes I never thought about it that way!” button? I am paying to write this right now just like you are paying to read it – with your time, your energy. Is this what you want to be spending your time on? Is this what I want to be spending my time on? (The answer for me is a resounding “YES!” by the way.)
We are what we spend our time on. So what is worth paying more attention to? What would you like a refund on? What aren’t you going to spend another dime of your time on?
So, if you are spending time applying to culinary school and working in restaurant kitchens I hope you want to be a chef. If you always have your hands in the soil and are constantly thinking about how to make your garden grow, I hope you are okay with being called a gardener. If you look at your life from the perspective of time, are you spending it becoming who you want to be?
Find a way to say yes to that last question today – spend five minutes of your time (currency) consciously being the person you are constantly becoming.
Where do you spend your time? Let us hear it in the comments section below:
Thanks! Caryn

Very interesting perspective…I am frugal when I am spending my money, but a serious shopaholic when it comes to spending my time. Great concept to help me think differently about how I am living the moments of my life!
Thanks for commenting Carolyn. It is a wild perspective to take on. I do hope you get some meaningful shopping in today!
