The following is a follow up to last week’s post.
This is what I mentioned last week, and it’s the coaching model I use with all my clients – and myself. All. The. Time.
Circumstances, create
Thoughts, cause
Feelings, cause
Actions, create
Results.
You can plug things in at any point on the model. For example:
Circumstance: I have arms
Thought: I will never have Michele Obama arms.
Feeling: Sad
Actions: I don’t lift weights, I might eat more ice cream.
Results: I don’t have Michelle Obama arms.
Now lets say I realized that I was letting my thoughts get the better of me and I want to change it up. So I’ll change my thought:
Circumstance (stays the same) I have arms
Thought: I am strong
Feeling: Capable
Actions: I take action, I do things that strong people do.
Results: I get stronger.
See what I mean? And if you don’t – don’t worry, this takes some time.
